GKPO
Computer Graphics and Image Processing
International Conference series
The GKPO conference series is now discontinued
(with GKPO 2000 being the last one).
The tradition of the series is continued by a new event:
International
Conference on Computer Vision and Graphics (ICCVG)
About the GKPO Conferences
International Conferences on Computer Graphics and Image Processing
(GKPO) were five-day scientific meetings organized in Poland
every even year (usually in May). They grouped the best researchers
active in the field of pictorial information exchange between
computer and its environment,
and provided an opportunity for them to integrate and exchange
knowledge across various fields of computer handling of images,
in particular the fields of image processing and computer graphics.
The conference series was associated with the Machine
GRAPHICS & VISION journal, as the conference committees
overlapped to a large degree with the journal editorial boards,
and the Proceedings of the conferences were regularly published as
Special Issues of the journal.
The Conferences were a forum for presentation of theoretical aspects,
methods, applications and systems of image generation and processing,
covering, but not limited to, the following main topics:
- Multimodal and multisensor models of image formation
- Image enhancement, restoration and compression
- Pattern recognition in image processing
- Geometrical and structural models of objects and scenes
- Motion analysis, visual navigation and active vision
- Modeling of human visual perception and mental imagery
- Structure reconstruction, 3D imaging and image synthesis
- Virtual reality and pictorial interaction
- Visualization and graphical data presentation
- Diagrammatic knowledge representation and reasoning
- Computer-aided graphic design, arts and animation
- Pictorial data bases and archivisation
- Fractal and chaos theory in image analysis
- Computational geometry
- Industrial, medical and other applications
The programme included: invited papers by leading researchers,
selected contributions (regular papers and posters),
presentation of software and hardware products, and social events.
The reviewing process by international reviever's team
and strict acceptance criteria ensured high quality of the accepted papers.
GKPO Conference series
The GKPO conference series started as a small Polish national conference.
A few foreign participants came to the second GKPO'92,
while the third GKPO'94 was already a truly international event,
with participants from all over the world.
Proceedings of five of the six GKPO conferences were published
as Special Issues
of the Machine GRAPHICS &
VISION Journal. Tables of contents of these Proceedings
(starting from the GKPO'96 Conference - also paper abstracts)
can be found on the WWW pages of the Journal:
- Machine GRAPHICS & VISION: Vol. 1 (1992), Nos. 1/2:
Proc. 2nd International Conference on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (GKPO'92),
Naleczow, Poland, May 18-23, 1992.
- Machine GRAPHICS & VISION: Vol. 3 (1994), Nos. 1/2:
Proc. 3rd International Conference on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (GKPO'94),
Spala, Poland, May 16-20, 1994.
- Machine GRAPHICS & VISION: Vol. 5 (1996), Nos. 1/2:
Proc. 4th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (GKPO'96),
Machocice, Poland, May 20-24, 1996.
- Machine GRAPHICS & VISION: Vol. 7 (1998), Nos. 1/2:
Proc. 5th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (GKPO'98),
Borki, Poland, May 18-22, 1998.
- Machine GRAPHICS & VISION: Vol. 9 (2000), Nos. 1/2:
Proc. 6th International Conference on Computer Graphics and Image Processing (GKPO 2000),
Podlesice, Poland, May 15-19, 2000.
The GKPO conference series was discontinued after the
6th GKPO 2000 conference.
The tradition of the series is continued by a new event:
International
Conference on Computer Vision and Graphics (ICCVG).
